Originally taught at the graduate level at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, this course offers a deep, interdisciplinary examination of how race, international affairs, and media are inextricably linked.
Students will explore how colonial legacies and racial hierarchies shape global politics, diplomacy, conflict, and coverage—and how media systems often reinforce (or resist) these power structures.
Through lectures, curated readings, and critical discussions, this course provides the same rigor, depth, and analysis as its Ivy League counterpart—now reimagined for a global public.
